Mission

Lithuanian Orphanages

Last October we sent 42 boxes of supplies to three orphanages and a country school in Lithuania. The boxes arrived safely before Christmas. We have received lovely thank you notes from the directors of the orphanages as well as notes from the school. We also received some pictures of the children opening the boxes. The letters and cards were translated by Alex Radzius. Please check out the bulletin board in the hallway to see the pictures, cards and translations.

Just before Easter we received an Easter card from one of the orphanages and a nice note wishing all of us a happy Easter and thanking us for all of our love and support.

Each October, we now send a shipment to Lithuania. If you have children, remember the orphanage as you sort through the winter clothes.

Thank you for all of your support, generosity, and prayers.

Coldweather Shelter

Baltimore County provides a Cold Weather Shelter for the Homeless at Spring Grove Hospital in Catonsville. The area churches provide the meals. Hope Church’s Deacons provide the first Saturday of the month meal for sixty people. We take it to the Shelter Saturday night. We also provide cereal for the next day.

When we arrive with the food, the people come running out and carry in all the items. They greet us with such gratitude and enthusiasm.

The Cold Weather Shelter is only open November to April. We worry about where all those people live the other months of the year. We hope that Baltimore County will next year open the Shelter all year round.

Mitten Tree

Each year during December the congregation brings hats, mittens, toys, etc. for the children at McKim Center. McKim is a ministry and outreach to the children in the inner city of Baltimore. On the last Sunday in December, the tree turns into a traditional tree decorated with special ornaments from the congregation.

One Great Hour of Sharing

Each year during Lent the Presbyterian Church USA asks for contributions to One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) which is our opportunity to help people all over the world and also here at home. These gifts support ministries of disaster response, refugee assistance and resettlement, and community development that help people start new lives and strengthen families. Through OGHS we have helped after the devastating hurricanes at home and the tsunami disaster in the Pacific. Hope Church has always given generously to this fund thus helping our brothers and sisters around the world find the hope for a brighter future.
